Pat Durland

Please join the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance for the first event in our Summer Speaker Series, as we welcome Pat Durland, a nationally respected and internationally known expert in modern wildland fire planning, wildfire mitigation, and training programs to the Old Wilson Schoolhouse tonight, Tuesday, May 24 at 6pm. This is a free event. Listen to his interview with Cassandra Lee on KHOL.

Reducing Wildfire Losses to Communities and Ecosystems!

We will provide participants with the latest science, research and information on: today’s wildfire threats; how misinformation has compromised our ability to effectively reduce wildfire losses; why wildfires continue to ignite record numbers of structures and damage natural resources; and how proactive residents and partnerships can reduce wildfire losses to their communities and natural areas, and assist firefighters and land managers.

Pat has a natural resources degree from the University of Idaho and decades of wildland fire management experience. His career includes 30 years with U.S. federal agencies. In 2003 he founded Stone Creek Fire LLC and launched his profession as a private wildland fire consultant.

He is a nationally respected and internationally known expert in modern wildland fire planning, wildfire mitigation and training programs. He has assisted federal, state and local agencies, community groups, Firewise, insurance companies and many others in developing and implementing modern wildfire mitigation programs. His international assignments include Canada, Central America, Southeast Asia and Australasia.

As a 20 year resident of the fire-prone Boise foothills, Pat and his family have dealt with wildfire both personally and professionally.

This event is made possible by a grant from the Teton Conservation District. Food will be provided by Hole Food Rescue and beer by Upslope Brewing Company.

The Alliance Summer Speaker Series is sponsored by Long, Reimer, Winegar LLC.
